Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra, Part 6

[Series of Master Shen-Long expounding on the Prajna Paramita (Perfection of Transcendent Wisdom) Heart Sutra]

We have so many things that need to get done, and if there was nothing to do, our inner mind would become anxious and restless. This is normal. If this kind of phenomena did not exist, then everyone would become Buddha and become masters of ourselves. Therefore, if you want to resolve this affliction of birth and death, it is most important that you start from Prajna. The simplest way to start is to learn how to be disillusioned with all and to let go of all.

Just a moment ago, we mentioned a major phenomenon – life is but a dream. How do you maintain a clear-headed condition within this dream and resolve this dream with life and death – these are matters of top priority!

I offer that all you need to do is to be disillusioned with all. To be disillusioned with all is not like what is described in novels: “to reject the world for a monastic life”. This is the incorrect way of doing. To be “disillusioned” is when your mind no longer has any worries; it is not to detach from this human world. Everything is the same as usual in all walks of life. If you are an entrepreneur, you are smooth and steady running your business. If you are retired, you play golf daily and happily. However, your mind has nothing to worry about any more, this is the difficult part.

I think everyone knows this; everyone wants to be without worries. How to be without worries?

It is simple, “being disillusioned with everything” is to see the true facts of the reality. There are two ways:

(1) Analysis.

(2) Cessation insight, meaning to be calm and have an insightful mind through any external disturbance and delusional thought.

I am going to talk about “analysis” first. For instance, on this table there is a cup, clock, and a piece of paper. Now with new scientific developments, explanation of this is now easier, for they are all composed by ions.

When you place these objects under an X-ray they become transparent, and when you place them under infrared ray they turn into another dimensional space and placed under the ray of αβ they turn into another phenomenon; it’s clear that they are composed by waves of ions. If you have this concept, then making money will be very pleasant.

Why? Money is a wave motion, so is your mind. If your mind is without the wave motion, then bills of money are controlled and used by you.

All of you need to think: why does your mind have wave motions?

You take all matters seriously and are overly attached to them. Regarding “taking seriously”, it does not mean to tell you to not take work seriously, one must not misinterpret this, I do not mean it this way. “Taking seriously” means that your mind knows what you are doing and trying your utmost to do it, but the amazing thing is that when you are doing it, your mind will not be influenced. For instance, even under a clamorous environment, your mind is unmoved.

Why is it unmoved? You are not affected by it! However, your mind also knows the conditions of this clamorous environment, therefore you need to use the way of analysis.

我們好像都有做不完的事,如果沒有事做,內心就惶惶不安。正常的。如果這現象沒有了,各位都成佛了,就是完全自在。所以如果要解決這個生死的煩惱,最重要還是從「般若」下手。最簡單下手的狀態就是學習怎麼樣「看破、放下」。

剛剛我們講的主要一個現象:人生是夢,你怎麼能夠在這個夢裡面保持清醒的狀態,而把這個生死的夢解決。這個我想是當務之急。

我剛剛提供的是你要看破,看破不是像小說講:「看破紅塵,剃頭出家」;這個不對的。「看破」是你內心再也沒有牽掛,不是離開這個人間;你照樣各行各業。你是企業家,你就安安穩穩的作你的生意。你是退休,你就每天打高爾夫球高高興興的。但是你的心再也沒有牽掛了,難就難在這裡。

我想一般人都知道,大家都想沒牽掛,怎麼樣沒有牽掛?

很簡單,這個「看破」就是看清楚事實的真相。

有兩個方法:第一個為分析,第二個為止觀。

我先講「分析」。譬如我說:這個桌子上有杯子、有鐘、有這紙張,現在科學發達解釋都很容易。

它們都是什麼?離子組合的。

你拿到X光面前透明的。你拿到紅外線它變成另外一個空間。你拿到αβ射線一照,它變成另外一個現象。可見它是方程式組合的離子波動。這個觀念你如果有了,那你賺錢就很愉快了。

為什麼?鈔票是波動,你的心也是波動。如果你的心不波動,鈔票就為你所用。

大家要想一想,你的心為什麼波動?

對所有一切事情都認真,過於執著,這個認真並不是叫你不要認真工作,千萬不要會錯意,絕對不是這樣。認真,是你的心知道你在做什麼,盡力而為。但是很妙,你做的時候,你的心不被影響。譬如說:在一個嘈雜的環境,你的心不動。

為什麼不動?你沒有影響。可是你的心又知道這個嘈雜的環境是什麼狀態,所以要用「分析」。
