Explanation of the Title: Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra, Part 62

(Last week we ended with, “The King of the Heavenly Realms once visited our world; when he was above North America, the upper altitude of the sky above North America showed a seven-color rainbow with rainbow clouds like waterfalls, like Niagara Falls with layers upon layers lingering over a very long time.  He only came here for a routine inspection. Why? He oversees ten billion Milky Way galaxies, and it is impossible within his life to be with everyone. He sends his subordinates to visit, referred to as angels by Western society, and even the energy of these angels is exceedingly.”)

 

How can the Heavenly Realms compare with the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land? It is a long way off.

Heaven, we speak of the God of the Heavenly Realms; his appearance cannot compare with Amitabha.

Buddha, especially Amitabha’s bodily form, how does it come to be? It is the insight of all as the absence of inherent existence where letting go and being disillusioned with everything attains the unconditioned Dharma Body.

How does the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land come to be? It is from the insight of all as unreal, where there is no attachment to all.

What is the splendid nature of both the environment and the beings of the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land? There are phenomenal characteristics of no attachment to nirvana merits and enlightenment virtues within the pure self-nature. It is the phenomena of merits.

“Merit” is being purified of defiling illusion. “Virtue” is the function. The function of purity is Prajna wisdom. It is by means of wisdom to bring to perfection the splendid nature of both the environment and the beings of the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land. Therefore, when Amitabha brings to perfection his Reward Body, his Reward Body is also the revered one among all the Buddha and holds the first position among all Buddha as the king of all Buddha, surpassing Rocana Buddha.  The size of the Reward Body is 600,000 x 100,000,000 x 100,000 x 100 x 1,000 x 9 miles. It is incalculable; however, the mathematics of India can figure it out. Even today with our electronic calculator we cannot figure this number out.

As a matter of fact, Vairocana Tathagata is Amitabha Tathagata; Amitabha Tathagata is Vairocana Tathagata; these are the manifestations of all Buddha collaboratively bringing the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land to perfection.

The Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land is completed by the Middle Way.  Everyone should remember the Middle Way is being without attachments to all, the non-existent and existent are non-duality, the unreal and real exist simultaneously; bringing the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land to perfection.

Beings come to our world from the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land, their only duty is to introduce the Bliss World of Amitabha Pure Land, to introduce Amitabha, and to introduce that all beings are originally Amitabha. By means of the “Three Bodies” and “Four Wisdoms” to be the symbol of becoming a Buddha. By means of the “Dharma Body, Reward Body and Transformation Body” to be the reward attainment of becoming a Buddha. By means of the absence of inherent existence, unreal and the middle way to serve as the phenomenal characteristics and function of becoming a Buddha. After making it clear, it is very simple to practice cultivation.

What is cultivation practice? It is without thought arising in the mind daily, able to do anything, no addiction and no attachments to anything, and always existing with infinite light in the mind.

Now this is precisely the problem, how does this infinite light emerge?

I often run into people and they ask me: “What is this infinite light? I live in extreme darkness daily”.

Why in the darkness? The secular way of thinking is extremely serious, one is captivated by the material society.

Modern people are so pitiful. People used to have some spiritual enjoyment before however, modern people do not even have spiritual enjoyment, and they are lost in the material society falling deeper and deeper. Let alone to practice cultivation, one does not even have dreams of it, one is unclear about the general phenomenon of conducting oneself.

Therefore, today you are in touch with the Buddha teaching, can hear the genuine Buddha teaching, then you should use it in your daily life. When you use it, it produces an impact and then it has an effect. If you do not use it, there is no effect.

Good tools are prerequisite to the successful execution of a job.

The tool is Prajna. If you do not have Prajna, however you use and all turns to evil usage and mixed usage, it is not the right usage as not using it genuinely, so, it does not work. With regards to Prajna, if you can truly understand and can truly use it in everyday living; then the three insights of all as the absence of inherent existence, all as unreal, and the middle way are completed in one go. Just a moment ago we explained in step by step; but in fact, you can truly be disillusioned with everything and let go of all, then it is exactly the insight of all as unreal, the middle way, the absence of inherent existence.

The Buddha and Bodhisattvas at “the Hua-Yan Assembly of All Buddha”, what do they perform?  They are performing the three insights of all as the absence of inherent existence, as unreal, and the middle way.

Obviously, they know all phenomena is unreal and false entirely:

Why would they manifest the cognitive sphere of Vairocana Buddha?

Why would they manifest the cognitive sphere of Rocana Buddha?

Why would they manifest the cognitive sphere of Shakyamuni Buddha?

To manifest for whom to see? Of course, it is for us, all beings to see.

Why would they display the story of Sudhana—a young disciple learning from 53 masters in his quest for enlightenment? All Buddhist scriptures exist for its own purpose. If you only recite the Sutra without knowing its purpose, and without knowing its true meanings then it is called superstition. This is called religion.

今天講 (四 )     空、假、中三觀

(上星期講到: 天界的天王到我們世界上來,他曾經來過北美,北美上空七彩,彩虹雲,像瀑布,像尼加拉瀑布一層一層的,久久不散。他不過來巡視一下看看。為什麼?他管一百億個銀河系,可能一生都到不了。他派他下面的這些所謂我們西方人講的天使來看一看,那個能量都不得了。)

那天界跟極樂世界怎麼能比,差遠了。天界我們講天王 – 天主相貌跟阿彌陀佛不能比,那不能比。

佛,尤其阿彌陀佛身相怎麼來的?空觀 – 放下看破得無為法身。

極樂世界怎麼來的?「假觀」,一切不執著。

「極樂世界依正莊嚴」是什麼?是自性清淨當中不執著的功德相,功德現象。

「功」是清淨,「德」是作用。清淨的作用是「般若」智慧。以智慧成就極樂世界依正莊嚴。所以阿彌陀佛成就「報身」時,「報身」也是諸佛之尊,在諸佛當中的第一,諸佛之王,超過盧舍那。

那「報身」 – 六十萬億那由他百千由旬。這個沒有辦法計算,印度的數學算得出來,現在電子計算機算不出來。實際上:毘盧遮那如來就是阿彌陀如來,阿彌陀如來就是毘盧遮那, 就是一切佛的化身共同成就的極樂世界。

極樂世界 – 是「中道」成就。「中道」大家記住,一切不執著、空有不二、真假同時,成就極樂世界。

極樂世界眾生到我們世界來,唯一的任務是介紹極樂世界,介紹阿彌陀佛,介紹一切眾生本來是阿彌陀佛。以「三身、四智」,為成佛的一個象徵。以「法化報」,為成佛的果地。以「空假中」,為成佛的相、用。這樣把它搞清楚了以後,修行很簡單。

「修行」是什麼? 每天不起心、不動念,什麼事都能做,什麼事不貪著、不執著,心中常有無量光明。

現在就是這問題,就是無量光明怎麼生出來?

以前常碰到人問我:「無量光明?我每天黑暗得不得了。」

為什麼黑暗?世俗想法太嚴重,世俗人就世俗想法,迷在物質社會。

現代人也可憐,以前人還有點精神受用,現代人連精神受用都沒有,迷在物質社會,越迷越深。不要講修行,修行,他夢都夢不到。一般的做人現象,他搞不清。

所以今天接觸到佛法,能夠聽到真正的佛法,你就應該在日常生活開始來用它。因為你用它,它產生一個作用,它就有效果﹔你不用,沒有效果。「工欲善其事,必先利其器」;器是「般若」。如果你沒有「般若」了,沒辦法怎麼用都是邪用、雜用,不是正用 – 不是真正的用,沒有辦法。對於般若,你要能真實的了解,真實的能用在日常生活,好了,「空假中」一次完成。剛剛講是階段性的,但是實際上你能夠真的看破、放下,就是「假」,就是「中」,就是「空」。

「華嚴會」上的這些佛菩薩,他們在表演什麼?表演空假中。

明明知道「一切相皆是虛妄」,為什麼要變現毘盧遮那的境界?為什麼要變現盧舍那的境界?為什麼要變現釋迦牟尼佛的境界?變現給誰看?當然給我們眾生。

他為什麼要拿善財童子五十三參做個表演?一切經典它有目的。如果你只是誦經,不知道它的目的,不知道它真實意思,這叫迷信,這叫宗教。
